A Legacy Tree Video shares your values, beliefs, life lessons and wisdom about love, faith, gratitude, forgiveness, honor, dreams and hopes. This will be your oral history that descendants will treasure and pass from one generation to the next.
When should you create a Legacy Tree Video?
"There is no better time than right now." -Thomas Monson
Any time is a good time. If family history is important to you and your loved ones, don't put off recording your story.
Here are some common motivators or life events that may prompt you to share experiences, life lessons and wisdom with your loved ones:
•Celebration of parents and/or grandparents
•Significant life transitions
•Celebration of children’s special milestones
•Sharing family heritage, customs and traditions
•To gain insights into a life lived or a specific life event
One of the unique benefits of LegacyTree Videos is that you can choose to make one video around a particular topic, create a whole series or film an interview with couples and loved ones. Your Legacy Tree Video package can be customized to fit your needs.
What questions are asked during the interview? We begin with a list of questions that I generally ask during Legacy Tree filming. Questions are fine-tuned based on our preliminary conversation. Additional questions can be customized to fit the guest, your family and your stories. Introspective questions/topics could include: When in your life did you feel most alive? What has been your biggest passion? Let’s discuss the principles, rules, values and ethos that you try to live by and that have guided your life. How have they changed or evolved throughout your life? What are the biggest challenges you have faced? Throughout your experiences, what have you learned about how the world really works? When you reflect on your life, was there a time that you now wish you would have made a different choice or action? What are your thoughts about being a parent/grandparent? What do you know about living a happy and successful life now, that you didn't know when you were younger- Do you define happiness and success differently now than you did when you were first starting out? What is your advice to future generations of your family? If you could send one post-death message from beyond, what would you tell your family and descendants?
Where does the filming take place? When possible, I prefer to interview and film at the guest’s home. This is where people are generally most comfortable. It is also possible to film outdoors. I have occasionally done interviews via Zoom, FaceTime or video conference call when the situation required and allowed for streaming video.
How can Legacy Tree videos be used?Personal or family oral history Ethical wills Public relations or marketing video Legacy or memorial video Wedding, anniversary & birthday celebration video Mitzvah video Business executive video profile Clips to use on the web and social media Honoree introductions (celebration or event) Live-streaming videos Personal messages to loved ones New birth and early childhood videos

"Legacy Tree videos are great. I keep short clips of my father on my phone and watch them every time I want to hear his voice."
"I'm so glad I was able to buy this for my mom before she passed. She covered so much information about family history. I can now go back, years later, and sift through and research as I track my family’s genealogy and history. The questions about family history and early childhood that were asked in the interview are questions that I would not have thought to ask."
"Our in-laws' family history is a total mystery. We don't know much about the place from which they immigrated. A Legacy Tree video recording would have been an easy way to record their family history."
